When I first watched the movie The Secret, I was nearly overloaded with great inspirational ideas. One such idea was the use of vision boards. I wanted to make one desperately. But desperation isn’t the emotional state in which I recommended to build such a board, so for me, it had to wait.
As time went by I wanted to make one even more. I even considered putting it on my to do list. But that would make it feel like work. Whats even worse, I wanted to do it in conjunction with my wife. So she too needed to be inspired when I was. Slowly it began to wear on me a bit. I talked with the wife about it. She too had the same feeling. “How do we make something like this without it feeling like work?”
Well, just before watching the movie The Secret, I installed a huge dry erase board in my office. It allowed me to write down my to do list, and other motivational things for the day. If you have the space for such an item, I would HIGHLY recommended one. For me, this is where every good idea starts, and or ends up once it enters my mind.
From there I took inspired action. One day while taking the kids to the library to check out some books, I felt inspired to ask for the magazines that they throw away. Now at the time, the librarian told me they don’t give them out. But with a smile and some sincerity, I talked her into saving them, and calling me when the new issues come in. I also gathered up some items for the kids as well.
The next time we went shopping, I felt inspired to grab some foam board, and a frame. It went like this for some time. A piece here, and there. Whenever I was inspired, I acted. I was at work, and the Sunday paper was there, as always. But this Sunday. I took particular notice. In it,was the Geico money guy. It really made my day. I searched for images of him online, and in print, but this one was a HUGE. Thank you universe for showing me this.
About a week later, the library called. They said there was a huge stack of magazines with my name on them. WOW! We picked them up a few days later, and began working playing with them on my next day off. It was fun. The kids made one, we made one. It came effortlessly.
Once we were finished, I placed it in a frame and hung it in our hallway so that we can see it every day.
